Horna, a Finnish black metal band, was formed in the early to mid-1990s in Lappeenranta by vocalist and guitarist Shatraug, guitarist Moredhel, and drummer Gorthaur. The group's name translates to "hell" or "abyss." Their first demo, Varjoissa, was released in 1995, followed by their second demo, Hiidentorni, in 1997. In 1998, their first full-length album, Kohti Yhdeksän Nousua, was released. The band's lineup underwent several changes, with Shatraug often replacing members who lacked motivation. They signed with W.T.C. Productions in 2011 and continued to release albums such as Envaatnags Eflos Solf Esgantaavne in 2005. Throughout their career, Horna has been known for their exclusively Finnish-language lyrics and frequent label changes, reflecting Shatraug's leadership and the band's evolving dynamics.
