Biography

Deathspell Omega is a French black metal band formed in 1998 in Poitiers. Initially, they produced raw, traditional black metal akin to Darkthrone's Transilvanian Hunger, but shifted to a more technical and experimental sound. From 2004 to 2007, the band released a trilogy of concept albums focusing on theological aspects: Si monvmentvm reqvires, circvmspice (2004), Fas â Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum (2007), and Paracletus (2010). Deathspell Omega's lyrical content often deals with metaphysical Satanism and philosophical themes. Their seventh album, The Furnaces of Palingenesia, released in 2019, introduced anti-authoritarian political themes. The band's eighth album, The Long Defeat, was released on March 23, 2022. Deathspell Omega is known for maintaining anonymity, with no official website or promotional photos, and has never performed live.
