Biography

Hope Defteros, known professionally as Hope D, is an Australian singer-songwriter and musician from Brisbane. Born in 1999/2000, she began her music career with the release of her debut single "Swim" in late 2019, which earned her a finalist spot for the Billy Thorpe Scholarship. In March 2020, Defteros released her second single "Second," which reached number 69 on Triple J's Hottest 100 of 2020. Her subsequent singles "Common Denominator" and "Miscommunicate" promoted her debut EP Cash Only, released in February 2021. Throughout 2020 and 2021, Defteros performed at major festivals including Splendour in the Grass and St Jerome's Laneway Festival. In September 2021, she released "Happy Hangover," co-written with G Flip, followed by "Emerald" in July 2022. Her debut studio album Clash of the Substance was released independently on February 10, 2023.
