Hell Is For Heroes, an English post-hardcore band from London, was founded in September 2000 and consisted of Will McGonagle and Joe Birch, who were later joined by James Findlay, Tom O'Donoghue, and Justin Schlosberg. The band's first performances took place in West London throughout 2001, leading to their debut single on Superior Quality Recordings with the tracks "Sick/Happy" and "Cut Down". In July 2001, they signed with EMI. Following two independently released singles, Hell Is For Heroes released their self-titled debut EP You Drove Me To It in March 2003. Their first full-length album, The Neon Handshake, was issued on February 3, 2003, and gained a positive reception from NME. The album peaked at number 16 in the UK Albums Chart. Their next release was their second studio album Transmit Disrupt which came out on March 21, 2005. In February 2007, Hell Is For Heroes began their UK, Ireland and European tour with the track "You've Got Hopes" available for free download on Myspace. The band released their third album Hell Is For Heroes on June 11, 2007, which was followed by a sponsored tour throughout June. In October 2008, the band announced their indefinite hiatus and their final concert took place on December 12th 2008 at the Glasgow Barfly. On November 24th, 2012, Hell Is For Heroes disbanded following Joe Birch's death. They would reunite for a series of performances in 2018 and 2021.
