Hannah Alicia Smith was born on 19â¯Juneâ¯1986 in Birmingham, England, and later adopted the stage name Hannah Wants. A former professional footballer, she transitioned to music after attending her first rave at sixteen, developing an early passion for speed garage and UK garage that would shape her DJ style. In 2010, while vacationing in Ibiza, she secured a headline slot at Esâ¯Paradis, a breakthrough that led to a residency at Birminghamâs Rainbowâ¯Warehouse and a series of competitive wins that positioned her within the UK club scene. Her debut single "Rhymes" in 2015 reached numberâ¯13 on the UK Singles Chart, and the same year she earned a residency on BBC Radioâ¯1, produced the track "Dreamers" for Katyâ¯Bâs album Honey, and launched her label What Hannah Wants. Subsequent releases include "Holdâ¯Me" (HUGEL Remix) and singles "Cureâ¯Myâ¯Desire" (2022) and "Theâ¯One" (2023), all distributed through Cr2 Records. She has performed internationally, headlining festivals such as Glastonbury, Creamfields, and Lovebox, and touring North America on the Nightâ¯Bass tour. In 2012 she was named Best Breakthrough DJ by Mixmag and DJâ¯Magazine, and in 2014 she received Mixmagâs Star of the Year award.
