The Grammy-nominated southern rapper and singer Jack Harlow was born on March 13th, 1998, in Louisville, Kentucky. He started rapping when he was 12, recording himself with a DIY set-up comprising a laptop and a Guitar Hero microphone. During high school, he made inroads into the local underground hip-hop scene and began sharing songs online. 2015 saw him release a party-themed debut EP, Handsome Harlow, followed one year later by the mixtape 18. It was with the next year's mixtape, Gazebo, coupled with a busy touring schedule, that began drawing attention from record labels. Following 2018's Loose, he received a career-changing boost from social media when his 2020 single âWhats Poppinâ became a sensation on TikTok. The song received a nomination for Best Rap Performance at the 2021 Grammy Awards, and its official remix became a Top 5 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. He ended the year with the release of his debut album, Thatâs What They All Say, which climbed to Number 5 in the U.S. while hitting the Top 40 in Canada, Norway, the Netherlands, and New Zealand. In 2021, he earned his first Number 1 single with "Industry Baby," a noteworthy collaboration with Lil Nas X. Another collaborative single, "SUVs (Black on Black)" (featuring Pooh Shiesty) followed, and he maintained the momentum with 2022's "Nail Tech," which climbed to Number 18 on the Hot 100. That same year, he appeared on Kanye West's eleventh studio album, Donda 2, and scored another Number 1 hit with "First Class." Along with "Nail Tech," "First Class" appeared on his second full-length record, Come Home the Kids Miss You, which debuted at Number 3 in May 2022. In 2023, Jack Harlow pivoted away from the big-pop rollout of Come Home the Kids Miss You with Jackman. (2023), a surprise, more stripped and personal album that still debuted in the Billboard 200 Top 10 and underlined his interest in tighter writing and fewer gimmicks. That same year he expanded his profile beyond music with his acting debut in Huluâs White Men Canât Jump (2023), then stayed visible on the feature circuit with Jung Kookâs â3Dâ (2023) and the Lyrical Lemonade single âStop Giving Me Adviceâ (2023) alongside UK rapper Dave. He closed 2023 with a major commercial rebound: âLovin on Meâ became a multi-week Billboard Hot 100 Number 1 and signaled a lighter, flirtier ânew eraâ without abandoning the reflective edge of Jackman. In 2024, Jack Harlow continued testing that balance with âHello Miss Johnsonâ and âTranquility,â two singles that leaned more melodic and introspective, while also building a parallel lane in film with a supporting role in Doug Limanâs heist comedy The Instigators (2024). In 2025, he kept a low-but-steady release pattern with âSet You Freeâ and the Doja Cat collaboration âJust Us,â then re-emerged in 2026 with his fourth studio album Monica (released March 13, 2026), a concise project written after relocating to New York City and recorded at Electric Lady, framed as a reset rather than another maximalist chart chase.
