Biography
German music group Haindling, founded in 1982 by Hans-Jürgen Buchner, originated from Haindling, a district of Geiselhöring in Lower Bavaria. Buchner, who was a potter by profession, began composing his own music after finding the available options unappealing. His initial recordings were made using a multi-track cassette recorder and performed live with his wife Ulrike Böglmüller in local pubs. The group's breakthrough came when Buchner met singer Kevin Coyne, leading to a contract with Polydor Records and the release of their first album Haindling in 1982 followed by Stilles Potpourri in 1984. Haindling's style, rooted in Neue Volksmusik, quickly gained traction, earning them the German Record Award for their debut. Notable songs include "Lang scho nimmer gâsehn" which reached Number 33 in Germany, and "Du Depp", which gained attention for its humorous lyrics. Haindling also composed music for film and television, including the soundtracks for several Bavarian TV series. The group's extensive discography includes Filmmusik (2000) and Vivaldi & Vier Jahreszeiten (2004). Buchner received the Pro meritis scientiae et litterarum award in 2000 for his musical contributions. Haindling continues to perform, with regular summer concerts and occasional tours across Germany and Austria.
