Biography

Grade is a Canadian melodic hardcore band from Toronto, formed in the early 1990s originally under the name Rebirth. The original lineup included Kyle Bishop, Greg Taylor, Shawn Magill, Matt Jones, and Chris Danner. The group initially released a demo in 1993 and performed with notable acts such as Fugazi and Hot Water Music. They released a split album with Believe through Workshop Records in 1994, followed by their debut album ...And Such Is Progress (1995). Grade signed with Victory Records after initially planning to work with Revelation Records. Their subsequent releases included the single "Triumph & Tragedy" (1999), which featured a cover of Van Halen's "Panama", and the album Under the Radar (1999). They released the compilation The Embarrassing Beginning (2000), which contained early recordings. Grade disbanded in 2002 after releasing their final album Headfirst Straight to Hell (2001).
