Gille, born on 4 January 1987 in Saito, Miyazaki, Japan, began her musical journey at six, learning English and winning speech contests, which led to a scholarship in Los Angeles. She debuted in 2011 as an indie artist under the name Tasha Gee, releasing two singles. In 2012, Universal Music Japan signed her, and she adopted the stage name Gille, later stylised with a J. Her first international EP, Lead The Way, was released on 16 May 2012, followed by the cover album I Am Gille. on 18 July 2012, which unexpectedly peaked at number 7 on the Oricon charts and sold over 70,000 copies in Japan. The single "Try Again" was issued on 30 January 2013, and her debut studio album GILLEsound Vol.1 followed on 6 March 2013, though it achieved modest sales. Subsequent releases included the album Treasures on 13 August 2014 and I Am Gille. 4 ~Anime Song Anthems~ on 4 March 2015.
