Biography

Garry Mills, born 13 October 1941 in West Wickham, Kent, England, is a British former pop singer whose career began in the late 1950s when he performed at Londonâs 2i's Coffee Bar before being signed by Dick Rowe. Millsâ breakthrough came with the single "Look for a Star" released in 1959 on Top Rank Records, which reached number 7 on the UK Singles Chart and number 16 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, establishing him as a chartâworthy pop vocalist. The followâup single "Top Teen Baby" (1960) peaked at number 24 in the UK, while his 1961 Decca release "I'll Step Down" entered the UK charts at number 39. Mills also worked with fellow Top Rank musicians the FleeâRekkers while performing in concerts and appeared in minor film roles in London Nights and Treasure Island W.C. 2.
