Biography

Gabrielle Destroismaisons is a French-Canadian pop singer from Montreal, Quebec. Born on December 29, 1982, in the small city of Saint-Lin-Laurentides, she showed interest in the performing arts from a very young age, first taking on the piano and then making a foray into dance and drama. At the age of 14, she decided to focus exclusively on music, making her official recording debut Etc... four years later. Drawing comparisons to the work of American female pop artists such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, the album was extremely successful in French-speaking Canada, selling over 100,000 copies in just a few months and helping her win Revelation of the Year at the Félix Awards. That year, she also made her acting debut in the musical comedy Notre-Dame-De-Paris playing the role of Fleur-de-Lys. This success was followed by 2003's La Vie que Danse, nominated for Pop/Rock Album of the Year at the Félix Awards, and by an eponymous full-length in 2004. After putting her music career on hold for almost 16 years, Gabrielle Destroismaisons returned in 2020 with the single "Les Souliers Gris," a folk-tinged single dedicated to her family.
