Biography

Fushitsusha is a Japanese rock band from Tokyo that formed in 1978. The ensemble was founded by the guitarist and vocalist Keiji Haino and is famous for its haunting, contemplative psychedelic sound and for being a prominent part of the Japanese experimental scene. The group initially featured Tamio Shiraishi on synthesizer before evolving into a trio with the bassist Jun Hamano and the drummer Shuhei Takashima. They achieved professional recognition in 1989 with the release of the live recording 1st. Throughout the 1990s, their shifting lineup included the bassist Yasushi Ozawa and the drummer Jun Kosugi. Their discography includes the studio recordings Allegorical Misunderstanding (1993), A Death Never to Be Complete (1997), and Origin's Hesitation (2001). The ensemble returned to activity in 2012 and has since released recordings including Hikari to nazukeyou (2012) and Mabushii itazura na inori (2012).
