Freddy Fresh is an American disc jockey and producer born as Frederick Schmid in Minneapolis. He achieved professional recognition for a musical career that began after being introduced to the hip hop scene in 1984. Schmid achieved professional recognition for collecting DJ tapes from the musicians Shep Pettibone and Marley Marl and recordings by the Jonzun Crew and Liquid Liquid. His recording career began with a remix for the studio recording The Man & His Music Dedication by the ensemble Boogie Down Productions. Schmid achieved professional recognition for founding the label Analog Recordings (1992) and imprints including Butterbeat and Electric Music Foundation. He achieved professional recognition for signing with the label Harthouse (1995) and the studio recording Accidentally Classic (1996). His discography included the studio recording The Last True Family Man (1998) and the track âBadder Badder Schwingâ (1998) featuring the musician Fatboy Slim which reached number 34 in the United Kingdom.
