Biography

Emperor Penguin is an American electronic music duo from Chicago, consisting of DJ Lazlo Minimart and keyboardist Melvoin Stanke. Their music blends samples, synthesizers, found sounds, and electro-funk influences. The duo released their debut album, Shatter the Illusion of Integrity, Yeah (1999), followed by Extreme Gaming (1999). For their third album, they invited fans to vote on the title through their labelâs website, resulting in Mysterious Pony (2000). In 2001, they released the EP Damn, featuring guest musicians including bassist/guitarist Jack Flapjack, keyboardist Nord 2000, and drummer Ferrari.
