Biography

Elin Rosseland, born on April 5, 1959 in Norway, is a singer and composer who studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music. She began her career playing with various bands including Stein Eide Band, Kix, and Winds Hot & Cool. In 1984, she released an album with the octet and formed her own quintet Fair Play in Trondheim, releasing their debut album Fair Play in 1989. Rosseland joined the band Søyr from 1986 to 1994 and collaborated on several projects including the trio ESE with Sidsel Endresen and Eldbjørg Raknes, releasing Gack! in 1998. Her work Fra himmelen earned her the NOPA Award for both music and lyrics in 1996. Rosseland released several notable albums including Moment (2004) with Johannes Eick and Rob Waring, Jazz Mass (2009), and Ekko (2014). She also received the Radka Toneff Memorial Award in 2009.
