Gust William Tsilis, born on April 14, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, is an American jazz musician, composer, and music director. He began his musical journey with piano lessons as a child and later taught himself to play the drums. In 1974, Tsilis enrolled at the Berklee College of Music, focusing on the vibraphon. After graduating, he moved to New York City in 1981 and collaborated with notable artists such as Herb Robertson, Wilber Morris, and Arthur Blythe. His debut album Possibilities was released in 1988 featuring Billy Hart, Anthony Cox, and Peter Madsen. Tsilis went on to release several albums including Pale Fire (1990) and Sequestered Days (1992). He also worked as a promoter and producer for labels like Ken and Enja, discovering artists such as Kevin Mahogany.
