Drew McDowall, born on January 28, 1961, in Paisley, Scotland, is a British composer and electronic musician. He began his musical journey as part of the art-punk trio Poems in 1978 with his then-wife, Rose McDowall. In the 1980s, McDowall joined Psychic TV before becoming an official member of Coil in 1994, contributing to some of their most influential works. After moving to the US in the early 2000s, he formed Compound Eye with Tres Warren of Psychic Ills. In 2012, McDowall began focusing on solo work, releasing albums such as Haecciety Deluge (2015), Collapse (2015), and Unnatural Channel (2017). He has collaborated with various artists including Kali Malone, Caterina Barbieri, Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, Hiro Kone, Varg, Puce Mary, Shapednoise Rabit, James K, and LEYA History. McDowall's solo album A Thread, Silvered and Trembling was released in May 2024 on Dais Records. In 2025, he collaborated with Kali Malone for the album Magnetism.
