Biography

Dope Smugglaz, a British musical group from the United Kingdom, was formed in 1998 by Keith Binner, Chico Ijomanta and Tim Sheridan. The trio quickly made a name for themselves in the electronic music scene with their debut EP The Word, released in 1998. Their first notable chart success came with “The Word”, which reached Number 62 on the UK charts. This early achievement helped establish Dope Smugglaz as a promising act in the burgeoning electronic music landscape of the late 1990s. In August 1999, they achieved their highest chart position with a cover of Malcolm McLaren's “Double Dutch” titled “Double Double Dutch”, peaking at Number 15. This success further solidified their presence in the UK music scene. The group also appeared at the number 96 spot in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs list in 1999, highlighting their influence and popularity among electronic music enthusiasts. Their sole album, Dope Radio, was released in 2000. This album showcased their evolution as artists and their continued dedication to electronic music.
