Sean Spencer, born October 13, 1968, in Baltimore, Maryland, is an American DJ, record producer, and executive who first emerged as a teenage local DJ. In 1983 he coâfounded the hipâhop group Numarx, which opened for acts such as LL Cool J and RunâDMC and released "Buss It" in 1984. The groupâs later track "Girl You Know Itâs True" became a worldwide hit through Milliâ¯Vanilliâs version, establishing Spencerâs songwriting credentials. After working as a mix show director at Vâ103, he transitioned to dance music, joining The Basement Boys in 1989 and collaborating with artists like Paula Abdul and Michael Jackson; he later partnered with Karizma under the alias Deepah Ones. Spencer launched Code Red Recordings in 2004 and released the fullâlength project A Feelin' in 1995. In 2011 he founded Quantize Recordings, where he produced chartâtopping remixes such as the 2018 Billboard Dance Club Songs Number One "Hot Stuff" remix with Michele Chiavarini and a Number One cover of "Think (About It)" by Barbara Tucker. His 2021 Louie Vega remix of "Praying For You" received a Grammy nomination, and in December 2023 he released a Remix Masterclass course for producers.
