Biography

Diego Amador Fernández, born in 1973 in Sevilla, Spain, is a Spanish musician and composer known for his fusion of flamenco and jazz. Raised in a gypsy family with a strong musical tradition, Amador began his musical journey at an early age, learning the guitar and singing from his father before transitioning to the piano. His self-taught approach led him to apply flamenco techniques to the piano. Amador's breakthrough came with his solo albums El Aire de lo Puro (2001) and Piano Jondo (2008), which showcased his distinctive piano playing. In 2004, he made his debut in the United States at the Chicago Cultural Center. His album Río de los Canasteros earned him a nomination for Best Flamenco Album at the Latin Grammy Awards in 2008. Amador has collaborated with notable figures such as Pat Metheny and Chick Corea.
