Biography

Deulgukhwa, a South Korean rock band, was formed in 1982 by Jeon In-kwon, Choi Seong-won, Heo Seong-wook, and Jo Deok-hwan. The group is known for their contributions to the Asian rock genre. Their debut album March, released on September 10, 1985, included hits such as "That's My World" and "Marching." Despite not being played on radios, the album sold over 800,000 copies and led to numerous sold-out concerts in small theaters. The band's second album You and I was released in November 1986 with a new lineup that included Choi Goo-hee, Son Jin-tae, and Joo Chang-won. Following creative differences, Deulgukhwa disbanded in 1989. In 1995, Jeon In-kwon reformed the band with a new lineup, releasing Us (Deulgukhwa III) on April 1, 1995. The band reunited again in 2012 for several concerts and released their self-titled album Deulgukhwa posthumously on December 6, 2013, following the death of Joo Chan-kwon. Deulgukhwa received the achievement award at the Korean Music Awards in 2021 for their contributions to Korean popular music.
