Busker Busker was a South Korean indie pop trio who first came to prominence in 2011 when they competed on the televised talent show Superstar K3. Founded by singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jang Beom-june, bassist Kim Hyung-tae, and drummer Brad Moore, the members first came together as a busking art group that combined music with other forms of art and culture. Formed while still attending college, Busker Busker was originally intended to be a loose formation with a fluid membership and no set line-up. However, the trio of Jang, Kim, and Brad successfully auditioned for the third season of Superstar K and the groupâs âfluid line-upâ concept was abandoned, and the three members became permanent. Busker Busker was initially eliminated from the series but were given another chance when one of the Top 10 finalists dropped out of the show. During their time on Superstar K3, the group released three successful singles - âI Believe,â âPeople in Seoul,â and âNeo-ege Juneun Seonmulâ â the first two of which reached the Top 10. Busker Busker became extremely popular with viewers and became one of the final two acts on the show, finally losing to Ulala Session. Riding on their success on the show, they released their single, âCherry Blossom Ending,â which was featured on their 2012 debut full length, Busker Busker 1st Album. Both the single and the album reached Number 1 on the South Korean charts. The album was followed by the equally successful EP, Busker Busker 1st Wrap Up Album, which included the Number 1 single âIf You Really Love Me.â In 2013, the trio issued Busker Busker 2nd Album and the single âLove, At First,â both of which climbed to Number 1. Shortly after the albumâs release, the trio announced that they would be going on an indefinite hiatus and have remained inactive ever since.
