Del Water Gap is the solo project of Samuel Holden Jaffe, born in Sharon, Connecticut. Inspired by the Delaware Water Gap, Jaffe began recording as Del Water Gap while attending boarding school in Millbrook, New York, and released his debut EP Del Water Gap in 2012. His breakthrough came with "Ode to a Conversation Stuck in Your Throat" in 2020, which gained widespread attention after actresses Margaret Qualley and Kaitlyn Dever posted an Instagram video performing to the song. The single was RIAA certified gold for 500,000 sales in December 2024. Jaffe released his debut LP Del Water Gap on Mom + Pop Music in 2021 and followed it with I Miss You Already + I Havenât Left Yet in 2023, which debuted at number 97 on the Top Current Album Sales chart. He released his third album, Chasing the Chimera, in November 2025.
