Biography

A leading figure in alternative country, guitarist and singer David Eugene Edwards was born in Englewood, Colorado, on February 24, 1968. He began his long musical journey in the early 1980s with the band Pavilion Steps (1982-1985), which produced just one cassette, then joined The Denver Gentlemen from 1988 to 1991, before leading two major projects: 16 Horsepower, active from 1992 to 2005, and Wowenhand, formed in 2001. Author of five critically-acclaimed albums, 16 Horsepower brought a distinctly gothic feel to the country genre, while Wowenhand (also known as Woven Hand) blended country, folk-rock and psychedelia. Since 2012, David Eugene Edwards has been playing guitar with Crime & the City Solution, a band formed in Sydney in 1977. His bandmate is Alexander Hacke, with whom he released the album Risha in 2018. In 2023, Edwards records his first solo studio album, Hyacinth, following the release of a live collection, A Riverwood Arts Session, in 2022. In 2025, he is invited by Al Cisneros for the double single "Pillar of Fire"/"Capernaum".
