Biography

Das Ich is a German electronic symphonic ensemble from Bayreuth established in 1989. The group consists of the musicians Stefan Ackermann and Bruno Kramm. They achieved professional recognition for a musical career characterized by the Neue Deutsche Todeskunst movement. The ensemble was founded after the musicians met in 1986 and performed in the project Dying Moments. Their recording career began with the debut studio recording Die Propheten (1991) which featured the song “Gottes Tod” and the song “Kain und Abel”. Das Ich achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Staub (1994) and the live recording Feuer (1995). Their discography included the studio recording Das innere Ich (1996) which served as a film soundtrack. The ensemble achieved professional recognition for signing with the label Motor Music and the studio recording Egodram (1998) which featured the song “Destillat”. Their recording career included the studio recording Morgue (1998) which set poems by the writer Gottfried Benn. Das Ich achieved professional recognition for the studio recording Anti'christ (2002) and the studio recording Cabaret (2006). Ackermann achieved professional recognition for returning to performance in 2013 following a serious illness. Their recording career included the studio recording Fanal (2025) and the song “Lazarus” (2025).
