Darren Hayman, born on December 1, 1970 in England, is a singer-songwriter and guitarist. He rose to prominence as the lead singer and main songwriter for the UK indie rock band Hefner, known for their association with late John Peel. After Hefner disbanded in 2002, Hayman began a solo career, releasing his debut album Table For One in September 2006 via Track & Field. Notable albums include Darren Hayman And The Secondary Modern (November 2007) and The Ship's Piano (October 2011). In January 2011, Hayman recorded and released a song every day of the month, collaborating with various artists. He has also worked with other musicians, producing an album for The Wave Pictures and contributing to projects by Papernut Cambridge, Rotifer, and The Great Electric.
