Biography

Daniel Amos, an American Christian rock band from Southern California, was formed in 1974 by Terry Scott Taylor on guitars and vocals, Marty Dieckmeyer on bass guitar, Steve Baxter on guitars, and Jerry Chamberlain on lead guitars. Their early background involved performing for Bible study groups and at coffee shops as Jubal's Last Band before changing their name to Daniel Amos in 1975. The band's debut album Daniel Amos was released in 1976 under Maranatha! Records, produced by Al Perkins. The group transitioned from a country sound to rock with albums like Shotgun Angel (1977) and Horrendous Disc (1981). They signed with Solid Rock Records and began touring extensively in the late 1970s. The band released four albums as part of The ¡Alarma! Chronicles: ¡Alarma! (1981), Doppelgänger: The "¡Alarma! Chronicles" Volume II (1983), Vox Humana: The ¡Alarma! Chronicles Vol. III (1984), and Fearful Symmetry (1986).
