Biography

Resurrection Band, also known as Rez Band or REZ, was a Christian rock band formed in 1972 by members of the Jesus People USA community in Chicago. Initially performing under the name "Charity," they later became the "Jesus People USA Traveling Team." The band recorded their first album, Awaiting Your Reply, in 1978 after receiving a financial gift from a friend. Despite initial skepticism from Christian record labels, Star Song Records released the album, which reached number 6 on the Gospel album sales charts. Their subsequent albums included Rainbow's End (1979), Mommy Don't Love Daddy Anymore (1981), and Innocent Blood (1989). The band addressed various social issues in their music, including apartheid and homelessness. They achieved crossover success with two music videos featured on MTV in the late 1980s. Resurrection Band is credited as one of the forerunners of Christian metal.
