Biography

DeGarmo & Key was an American Christian rock duo from Memphis, Tennessee, formed in 1977. Keyboardist Eddie DeGarmo and guitarist Dana Key founded the group following their departure from the band Globe. The duo released the debut album This Time Thru in 1978. The 1980 album This Ain't Hollywood was the first Christian rock recording nominated for a Grammy Award. In 1981, DeGarmo and Key toured as the support band for Amy Grant. With the album Communication (1984), the group became the first Christian act with a video, “Six, Six, Six”, in rotation on MTV. Their discography included the recordings “Destined to Win”, “Let the Whole World Sing”, and “Boycott Hell”. The band became inactive in 1995. Key died on June 6, 2010. The duo was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2011. DeGarmo & Key became inactive in 1995.
