Biography

Keith Gordon Green, born on October 21, 1953, in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York, was an American singer. He signed with Decca Records at 12 and released his first single “A Go-Go Getter” in May 1965. After a period of exploring Eastern mysticism, Green returned to Christianity and resumed his musical career focusing on Christian contemporary music. His notable songs include “There Is a Redeemer”, written by his wife Melody, and “Oh Lord You're Beautiful”, written solely by Keith Green. He released several albums, including Jesus Commands Us to Go! (1984) and The Ministry Years, Vol. 1 (1987). Green died in a plane crash on July 28, 1982. Posthumously, numerous compilations of his work were released, including The Ultimate Collection (2002), solidifying his influence in the Christian contemporary genre.
