Biography

Evelyn van Ophuisen (January 30, 1944), professionally known as Daisy Door, is a German schlager music singer from Duisburg. During her childhood, she performed on Radio Cologne with her sister Liane as the duo Li & Eve, who released a handful of commercial singles between 1964 and 1966. After adopting the stage name Daisy Door, she made her official debut as a solo artist with the 1967 single "Curry." Mainstream success finally arrived in 1971 when the Peter Thomas-produced single "Du lebst in deiner Welt" was featured in the incredibly popular crime show Der Kommissar, selling over 500,000 copies in its first three months and becoming the biggest hit of her career. In the following years, Daisy Door continued to put out material on the Ariola label, including 1973's "Straße der Vergangenheit," a German cover of "Take Me Home, Country Roads," and "Im Wald da sind die Räuber" (1975), the last single she released before retiring from the music industry altogether.
