Concepción Velasco Varona, known professionally as Conchita Velasco, was born on November 29, 1939, in Valladolid, Spain. She began her career as a dancer and made her debut in the cinema at age fifteen. Her breakthrough moment in music came with the release of "Chica ye ye" from the film Television Stories (1965), which became a hit and led to her success as a yé-yé singer. She released eight albums, including Chica Ye Ye, Oh, John, and Cuatrocientas. Velasco's notable songs include "Sinceridad." Throughout her career, she received numerous accolades, including two National Theater Awards in 1972 and 2016. She passed away on December 2, 2023, at the age of 84.
