Christina Courtin, born in 1984 in Buffalo, New York, is an American singer, violinist, songwriter and composer. She began playing the violin at age three and soon developed an interest in composition and singing. Courtin studied at the Juilliard School before embarking on a career that saw her collaborate with numerous notable artists across folk, pop, and jazz genres, including Dirty Projectors, Sara Watkins, The Knights, Nick Cave, Paul McCartney, and Yo-Yo Ma. Courtin's debut album, Christina Courtin, was released in 2009 under the Nonesuch label. Her second album, Varsity, followed in 2013 via Hundred Pockets Records. She has composed pieces for significant projects such as the Five Boroughs Songbook Festival, with her song "Gypsy Girl" performed by Dawn Upshaw in 2014. Courtin became a professor of songwriting at Dartmouth College in 2014.
