Christina Nemec, known professionally as Chra, was born in 1968 in Villach, Austria. She is an electronic musician, producer, and label owner who plays bass guitar and produces noise and experimental electronica. Nemec began her musical career in the 1980s, initially working in the metal and noise genres before transitioning to the experimental electronic scene. In 1992, she released a cassette album titled Das Schlachtfest with Bray on Trost Records. Nemec performs live under the name Chra and has collaborated extensively with various artists. She co-founded the queer-feminist label comfortzone, which has released works by artists such as Kumbia Queers and Cherry Sunkist. In 2019, she received the Preis der Stadt Wien für Musik for her contributions to music.
