Biography

Childliners was a British-Australian electronic music band formed in 1995 to record the Christmas single "The Gift of Christmas". The track, written by Tom Watkins, Anthony Mortimer of East 17, Rob Kean, Tony Vickers, and Reggae singer Steven James Lewis (known as C. J. Lewis), was produced by Kean and Vickers. Released on December 11, 1995, "The Gift of Christmas" spent seven weeks in the UK Charts and peaked at number 9. In addition to the original release, Childliners put out a Maxi-CD under the name Childliner DJ’s, featuring five remixes of "The Gift of Christmas" by artists including Motiv 8 (Steve Rodway), Loveland, Matt Darey, The Beatmasters, and Wand (Paul Kevin Masterson). The success of "The Gift of Christmas" marked Childliners' only significant release, as the group was formed specifically for this project.
