Biography
Country-pop singer Chase Rice played college football, worked as a pit crew member for NASCAR drivers, and starred in the reality TV show Survivor: Nicaragua before launching his award-winning songwriting career. Born on September 19, 1985, in Ormond Beach, Florida, he released his debut EP, 2011's Country as Me, following his time on Survivor. A full-length album, Dirt Road Communion, followed in 2012, but it wasn't until Rice co-wrote Florida Georgia Line's massively popular "Cruise" âthe best-selling country song in digital history, as well as the first country single to earn Billboard's diamond certification â that his solo career truly took flight. Propelled by the unmatched success of "Cruise," Rice signed a major-label deal with Columbia and released Ignite the Night in 2014. The gold-selling album debuted at Number 1 on the Top Country Albums chart and produced two platinum singles, "Ready Set Roll" and "Gonna Wanna Tonight." Lambs & Lions followed in 2017, accompanied by the chart-topping single "Eyes on You." Beginning in January 2020, Rice began releasing a series of related EPs titled The Album, Pt. 1, The Album, Pt. II, and The Album, Pt. III, earning additional hits with tracks like "Lonely If You Are" and the Florida Georgia Line collaboration "Drinkin' Beer. Talkin' God. Amen." The Album, his fifth studio full-length, appeared in May 2021 and peaked at Number 34 on the US country charts. Even though the Florida native laid low during 2022, he returned in 2023 with his sixth studio full-length I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go to Hell, a deeply personal and introspective affair that included features by Read Southall Band and Boy Named Banjo.
