Biography

A Thousand Horses is an American country rock band formed in 2010 in Nashville, Tennessee, by lead vocalist Michael Hobby, lead guitarist Bill Satcher, bassist and vocalist Graham Deloach, and guitarist Zach Brown, until his departure in 2023. The group released its self‑titled debut EP A Thousand Horses under Interscope Records on August 17, 2010, quickly gaining attention with the single "Smoke," which debuted at number 28 on the Country Aircheck radio chart in 2014 and later reached number 1 on the Country Airplay chart, marking the first number‑one debut single by a country group since 2008. In 2015 the band signed with Republic Nashville and issued its first full‑length album Southernality, featuring the singles "(This Ain’t No) Drunk Dial," "Southernality," and "Smoke" (live version). The album was followed by the deluxe EP Bridges in 2017, produced by Dann Huff and Corey Crowder, and the self‑titled album A Thousand Horses in 2010. In 2018 the band released the full-length version of Bridges and Broken Heartland followed in 2022 on Highway Sound Records. After Zach Brown left the band in 2023, the remaining trio released The Outside in 2024. White Flag Down was released in 2026. The group has maintained a steady touring schedule across the United States and has been noted for blending classic rock and country influences in a modern context.
