Parmalee, an American country music band from Parmele, North Carolina, prefers to keep things in the family. The band formed in 2001 consists of brothers Matt Thomas (on lead vocals and guitar) and Scott Thomas (drums), as well as their cousin Barry Knox on bass and their close childhood friend Josh McSwain on guitar. The group released their debut EP Daylight in 2002, which earned them the attention of record labels and led directly to the recording of their full-length debut album Inside (2004). This was followed by Mildew or Barbecue? in 2006, and Complicated in 2008. Their breakthrough single âMusta Had a Good Timeâ came in 2012, peaking at Number 38 on the US Billboard Country Airplay chart. This was followed by the single âCarolina,â which hit No. 1 on US Country Airplay. Both tracks were included in the bandâs next album, 2013âs Feels Like Carolina, which peaked at Number 10 on the US Top Country Albums chart. In 2017, they released their album 27861. This was followed by the album For You in 2021, which includes the singles âJust the Way,â a collaboration with rapper Blanco Brown, and âTake My Name.â The album peaked at Number 35 on the US Top Country Albums chart. In 2023, the recent album was reissued with the title For You 2, including new singles "Girl in Mine" and "Gonna Love You", subject to remix versions. In 2025, the song "Cowgirl" inaugurates the 7-track EP Fell in Love with a Cowgirl.
