Biography

Chadwick William Morgan, born on February 11, 1933 in Wondai, Queensland, Australia, was a country music singer and guitar. He learned guitar from an early age and gained recognition through Australia's Amateur Hour radio talent contest with "The Sheik of Scrubby Creek". Morgan signed with Regal Zonophone Records, releasing his debut single "The Sheik of Scrubby Creek" in December. He toured extensively, including with the Slim Dusty Show and released 18 studio albums. Notable works include Cock of the Walk (1972) and Here I Am (1973). Morgan was inducted into the Australian Roll of Renown in 1987 and received an Order of Australia Medal on Australia Day in 2004. He announced his retirement in February 2024, concluding his Farewell to Australia tour on April 21, 2024. Morgan died on January 1, 2025, at the age of 91.
