Dennis Bryant, born 13 February 1947 in Bathurst, Australia, is the real name of comedianâsinger Kevin Bloody Wilson, known for bawdy country songs in a thick Australian accent. After working as an electrician in Kalgoorlieâs gold mines, Bryant fronted Bryan Dennis and the Country Club in the 1970s and hosted a radio show on 6KG before turning to comedy music. His breakthrough came in 1984 with the cassette Your Average Australian Yobbo, later released on long play record as Kev's Back (The Return Of The Yobbo), selling tens of thousands of copies. From 1986 to 2004 he issued a series of albums-including Born Again Piss Tank, The Lovable Larrikin, Let's Call Himâ¦Kev!, The Worst Of Kevin Bloody Wilson, Backout From The Outback, Let Loose Live In London, Let Loose Live In The Outback, and 20 Years Of Kev-through Both Barrels Music and later Sony Music Australia, achieving doubleâplatinum for Born Again Piss Tank and gold for The Worst Of Kevin Bloody Wilson. Notable singles include "Manuel The Bandito" (1987) and "Hey Santa Claus" (1989); the 2008 collaboration "The Genie in the Bottle" with Adam Harvey topped the Australian Country Singles chart for six weeks. Wilson toured extensively, averaging 120 shows a year, and was nominated five times for the ARIA Award for Best Comedy Release, winning in 1987.
