Aaron Watson, born James Aaron Watson on Augustâ¯20,â¯1977 in Amarillo, Texas, and learned guitar at Lubbock Christian University and Abilene Christian University. He debuted with Aaron Watson â Singers and Songwriters (1999), followed by Texas Cafe (2000) and Shutâ¯Upâ¯andâ¯Dance (2002), which earned national radio attention. His next releases-The Honkyâ¯Tonkâ¯Kid (2004) produced by Ray Benson with Willieâ¯Nelson, Sanâ¯Angelo (2006), Barbedâ¯Wireâ¯Halo (2007), and Angelsâ¯&â¯Outlaws (2008)-established him on the independent scene. The 2015 album The Underdog debuted at Numberâ¯1 on the Top Country Albums chart, and the 2017 single "Outtaâ¯Style" reached the top 10 on Country Airplay, earning a BMI Millionaire Award. Subsequent albums Vaquero (2017), Live at the World's Biggest Rodeo Show (2018), Redâ¯Bandana (2019), American Soul (2021), Unwanted Man (2022), Cover Girl (2023), and Horse Named Texas (2026) continued his chart presence.
