Biography

Centro-matic was an American alternative country band from Denton, Texas, formed in 1995 as a side-project by Will Johnson. The group released several singles and grew into a full-fledged band by 1997. Albums include Navigational (1999), The Static vs. the Strings Vol. 1 (1999), Distance and Clime (2001), Love You Just the Same (2003), and Fort Recovery (2006). Johnson also led the side-project South San Gabriel. Releases include the split album Dual Hawks (2008), featuring songs from both bands. The group announced their disbandment in September 2014, concluding with a final show at Dan's Silverleaf in Denton on December 21, 2014, but reunited on January 18, 2025, in Mexico City.
