Biography
South San Gabriel, an American alternative country band based in Denton, Texas, was formed in 2000. The group consisted of members from Centro-Matic with additional guests and focused on introspective and subdued offerings. Lead singer Will Johnson alternated between South San Gabriel and his solo projects. Their first album, Songs/Music, was released in 2000 and credited to Centro-Matic in the U.S., while it was credited to South San Gabriel in the Netherlands. The band followed with releases such as Welcome, Convalescence (2003) and The Carlton Chronicles: Not Until the Operation's Through (2005). In 2008, they released a split double-album titled Dual Hawks with Centro-Matic. The band has also contributed to various compilations, including Awesome (2001) and Esto No Es Un Cactus (2001).
