Marcellus McCarver, known as Celly Cel, and born in Vallejo, California on December 1, 1970, is a rapper. He began his music career in the early 1990s by releasing titles on cassettes independently, including "Lifestyle of a Mack" (1991) and Funk 4 Life (1993). Celly Cel's breakthrough came when he signed with Sick Wid It Records, founded by E-40, leading to the release of his debut album Heat 4 Yo Azz in 1994. This album achieved underground success, peaking at number 34 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. His second album, Killa Kali, released in 1996 under Jive Records/Sick Wid It, was also successful, reaching number 26 on the Billboard 200 and featuring the single "It's Goin' Down". Celly Cel continued with albums such as The G Filez (1998) and Deep Conversation (2000).
