Biography

Cathrin Pfeifer (born 1962) is a German accordionist and composer from East Berlin. Pfeifer began playing accordion at age nine and studied at the Musikhochschule Hanns Eisler. She performed for twelve years in the play Mutter Courage at the Berliner Ensemble. Pfeifer founded her own band and the trio Trezoulé. Pfeifer’s career featured collaborations with Steve Lacy, the band Keimzeit, and Etta Scollo. Her discography included the albums Balance (1992), Panico na Panicifadora (1995), Solo Para o Sol (1998), and lonely tramp (2002). Later releases included waiting for valentin (2005), Tough & Tender (2008), and Quantuum Mobilé (2022). Pfeifer appeared in the film Die Architekten (1990) and composed the score for Nachtgestalten (1999). Pfeifer participated in the television series Bauer sucht Kultur (2016) and appeared in the movie Eine Braut kommt selten allein.
