Biography

Carnival Youth is a Latvian indie band formed in Riga in 2012, consisting of twins Edgars Kaupers and Emīls Kaupers on guitar/vocals and drums/vocals respectively, Roberts Vanags on keyboards/vocals, and Kristiāns Kosītis on bass. The group released their first EP Never Have Enough in May 2014, followed by their debut studio album No Clouds Allowed in October of the same year, which won the Latvian Golden Microphone award for Best Debut. In January 2016, Carnival Youth received the European Border Breakers Award (EBBA) and the EBBA Public Choice Award and second studio album, Propeller, was released in spring of that year. The band's third album, Vienā vilcienā, released in 2017, marked their first album sung entirely in Latvian. In 2019, they followed up with their fourth studio album, Good Luck.
