Biography

Califone is an experimental rock band from Chicago. It was formed by Tim Rutili after the breakup of his previous band, Red Red Meat. Initially a solo project, Califone became a collaborative effort with contributions from various musicians. The band released albums such as Roomsound (2001) and Roots & Crowns (2006), which received critical acclaim. In 2009, the band released All My Friends Are Funeral Singers, accompanied by a feature film of the same name. Califone's sound blends blues-rock with experimental music and draws inspiration from early American folk, pop, electronic, and groups like Psychic TV.
