Biography

The reign of Bros as a chart-topping boy band may have been brief but it was extraordinarily intense, producing 11 UK Top 40 singles and three Top 20 albums between 1988 and 1992. The good looks of blond twins Matt and Luke Goss and the exuberantly poppy songs they recorded with schoolfriend Craig Logan made them the prime pin-up band of the era. Signed to CBS and managed by former Pet Shop Boys mentor Tom Watkins, they released their first single I Owe You Nothing in 1987, which hit the top spot on its re-release after the second single When Will I Be Famous? had got to Number 2. Produced by Nicky Graham, their first album Push ultimately spawned five hit singles and they continued to release chart records through to the end of the 1980s when Craig Logan suddenly quit the group (going on to produce Kim Appleby, manage Pink and become a major music industry figure, with his own record label). The Goss brothers kept Bros going for another couple of years and had further hits with Madly In Love, Are You Mine? and Try, but their popularity quickly faded, with Matt Goss going on to launch a solo career.
