Biography
Matthew Frederick Robert Good, born 29â¯Juneâ¯1971, in Burnaby, Britishâ¯Columbia, is a Canadian singer and songwriter who first emerged as the frontman of the Matthewâ¯Goodâ¯Band. After independently releasing their debut album, Last of the Ghetto Astronauts, in 1995, the band achieved national attention with the single âAlabama Motel Roomâ and later signed a deal with Private Music. The band then released Underdogs (1997) and Beautiful Midnight (1999), the latter debuting at Number 1 on the Canadian Albums Chart. The band earned Juno awards for Best Group and Best Rock Album in 2000, although Good did not attend the ceremony. Following the bandâs dissolution in 2002, Good launched a solo career, releasing Avalanche (2003), White Light Rock & Roll Review (2004), and Hospital Music (2007), the latter debuting at Number 1 on the Canadian album charts. Subsequent albums Vancouver (2009), Lights of Endangered Species (2011), Old Fighters (2013), Chaotic Neutral (2015), Something Like a Storm (2017), and Moving Walls (2020) expanded his catalog, with Vancouver winning the 2011 Juno for Rock Album of the Year.
