Biography

Bodyjar, an Australian pop punk band, formed in Melbourne in 1990. Initially known as Damnation and Helium, they released their first album, You Can't Hold Me Down, in the early 1990s under the name Helium. In 1994, they had their first gig as Bodyjar at the Great Britain Hotel in Richmond and recorded their debut studio album, Take a Look Inside. The band gained traction through punk fanzines and all-ages gigs, supporting acts like NOFX and Blink 182. After signing with EMI/Capitol in 1999, they achieved their commercial peak with How It Works (2020), which reached the top 20 on the Australian ARIAnet albums chart. The band disbanded in September 2009 but reunited in March 2012 and released Role Model in 2013.
